Ciao Bella! Rhodium, a luxury jewelry brand based in New York City, had an inspired beginning in Italy when co-founders Anna Marshall and Mesi Jilly Shashoua met while both were working for Ralph Lauren in Milan. Collaborating to create Rhodium jewelry is a natural progression for the two, given their extensive backgrounds in accessory design, merchandising and public relations.
Austrian-born Mesi Jilly Shashoua was raised in France, Italy and Chile. Prior to launching her eponymous jewelry brand in 2005, the self-taught designer worked in public relations for luxury brands including Ralph Lauren and Jil Sander. After having moved to New York, she decided to follow her real passion and create her own jewelry line.
Anna Marshall, an American born Fashion Institute of Technology graduate, began her career as Accessories Buyer for Ralph Lauren, the Wynn Las Vegas and the Palazzo. She moved from there into a Vice President position at celebrated handbag brand Judith Leiber. Striking out entrepreneurially in 2009, Marshall started boutique jewelry brand Evanthia.
The personal style of both women, combining casual chic looks with statement making jewelry, informs the aesthetic of the Rhodium brand. Rhodium designs present old-world inspiration in a contemporary way. Drawing on Gothic architecture, armor and textile influences, the premiere 2013 collection features hand-set precious stones, including diamonds, rubies, sapphires and emeralds. The darkly hypnotic movements of creatures both winged and reptilian are perfectly captured in each piece. The striking collection ranges from filigree to feathers, marking Rhodium as a strong and wholly original new voice in jewelry.
